about

Synchronic - a state in which two or more people or things
move or happen together at the same time and speed
Synchronicities are also incidents of spiritual significance
that ask us to momentarily dampen our self-obsession and
consider the possibility of the Divine.
Synchronistic experiences leave us with a curious sense
that we should pay attention. And we did pay attention. We
had to. The Pandemic made us pay attention.
After several twists and turns due to the pandemic, this
recording happened when…and how…it was supposed to
happen.
Covid-19 also spawned avenues to new ways of creativity.
We all had to dig in deep to find ways to survive and to
create. Covid separated all of us physically but our urge to
create, to connect, to be part of something larger, to
contribute to something remained. In other words, our
essence stayed strong. But the world was still spiking with
the virus. It was like being, no living, in a dream state.
In a Dwam attempts to depict this stupor musically with a
simple haunting melody. The album comments on living
through the pandemic. Travelin' thru, Speak, Let Go, The
Arbitrator, and Meditation #18 all comment on the
situation. Ming's Things, written in honor of Charles
Mingus, and Rhythm Jump remind us to have some fun,
find some fun, some relief, while we wait for complete
healing.
I wish to thank Tom Cabrera and Phil Sirois for their
collaboration, musical talents, and friendship. Every
precaution was taken for a safe experience, including
making a filter-bag to put the horns in so I could play! We
knew it would take a lot of prep for us to get into the studio,
and we revered the time we had. We listened to each other
with consciousness and deep intent. Hope you enjoy the
result.
